Are you looking for new places to build queer community in Seattle (🌈)? Safe spaces to engage with other folks from underrepresented communities (🌏🌎🌍)? Or maybe find some local QTBIPOC orgs to support?

Today, we’re highlighting over ONE HUNDRED of Seattle’s most adored ‘Third Spaces’ — places we frequent outside of work and home. Bars and entertainment venues, coffee shops, art galleries, cultural centers and non-profits, museums, collectives, social clubs, and more.  

Just in time for Pride Month! Queer and diverse-owned spaces that center marginalized communities on the regular have been prioritized over ones that only occasionally host an affinity night. Hope you discover something new today :)

  1. Admiral Pub 🌈 This queer-owned sports bar in West Seattle is a classic neighborhood spot, with regular events like Sing-Along Brunch.

  2. Alphabet Alliance of Color 🌍🌈 By and for QTBIPOC individuals in the Puget Sound region, focusing on mutual aid and transformative justice.

  3. API Chaya 🌏 Supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking within Asian, South Asian, and Pacific Islander communities. They host community educational events and training programs.

  4. Asian Adult Adoptees of Washington🌏 A volunteer-based Seattle non-profit that builds community, supports, and fosters connections among Asian adoptees — through monthly dinners, quarterly socials, and special events.

  5. Asia Society of Seattle 🌏 Promotes understanding of Asia and the diaspora through policy, arts, and education initiatives. They host the “SAM Talks” speaker series at the Seattle Asian Art Museum and various forums.

  6. A-Stir 🌈 A gay-owned restaurant and bar in Capitol Hill that often features live music and hosts community-centric gatherings like "Pitch-A-Friend" singles events and Honey.

  7. Asylum Collective — A volunteer-owned and -operated event space that hosts inclusive community events. Their calendar features diverse gatherings such as Language Cafés, Puppy Girl Nights, and Sapphic Soirées.

  10. Cappy’s Boxing Gym 🌈 Queer-owned community-first gym that prioritizes intersectional, inclusive programming and diverse staff. They offer free QTBIPOC community classes, queer Latinx boxing, fight nights, and more.

  11. Cebreazy Paints Gallery 🌍🌈 This gallery is dedicated to centering BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ artists from Washington State. It hosts monthly Paint & Sip brunches, crafting events, and curated exhibitions.

  12. Cedar Tea House🌍🌈 A QTBIPOC-owned late-night tea house and kava bar located in South Seattle. They provide a cozy community space and serve signature items like rosewater chai.

  13. Charlie’s Queer Books 🌈 Fremont’s queerly beloved bookshop-in-a-house, with an upstairs room for small workshops and events, and quiet reading nooks. Frequently hosting book clubs, creative workshops, and more.

  14. Chop Suey 🌈 A long-standing queer-owned Capitol Hill music venue and bar. A staple for Seattle's alternative music scene, hosting frequent live shows and dance nights.

  15. Common Area Maintenance — A diverse-run artist-led nonprofit in Downtown Seattle with a shared art studio and gallery. They host workshops, exhibitions, and public gatherings while developing affordable housing and cultural infrastructure for artists and nonprofit partners.

  16. The Cuff Complex 🌈 This iconic Capitol Hill leather bar is gay-owned, under the same umbrella as Elliott Bay Book Company. Known for its dance floor and regular themed events catering to the LGBTQ+ community.

  17. Cutie Foundation 🌈 A volunteer-run, queer-centered creative space that uplifts young and emerging artists. They host regular community markets, art swaps, and accessible crafting workshops to foster local creativity.

  18. Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center 🌎 A hub in Discovery Park for the Indigenous community and the United Indians of All Tribes Foundation. They host major annual events such as the Seafair Indian Days Powwow and Native Arts Markets.

  19. Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center 🌎 The traditional home of the Duwamish Tribe, providing a space for cultural preservation. They host regular Spring Song and Dance Practices, open to the community.

  26. Estelita’s Library 🌍 A Black-owned social justice community library and bookstore centering on ethnic studies and liberation movements. They host events like the Books & Beats book drive and provide space for social justice workshops.

  34. Friends Of Little Sài Gòn 🌏 Uplifting Seattle’s Vietnamese community by supporting small businesses and cultural programming. Key initiatives include the Little Sài Gòn Night Market and developing the Little Saigon Landmark, a future cultural and economic hub.

  39. Hood Famous Bakeshop 🌏 Filipino-owned bakery and café in the International District known for its iconic Ube Cheesecake. They host small events and serve as a community anchor, often collaborating on local neighborhood events and cultural initiatives.

  40. Honey Events 🌍🌈 A recurring BIPOC-owned event series in Seattle that centers Black and Brown women, femmes, and gender-diverse individuals. They host dance parties and themed nights at various venues.

  41. Haus of Hue  🌍🌈 A social events company that organizes thoughtful, intimate community events and dance parties for QTBIPOCs. 

  42. Indigenous Creatives Collective 🌎 This Native-led non-profit fosters intertribal community through arts-based rematriation and professional support for Indigenous artists. They host weekly Open Houses for gardening and art-making, alongside regular Culture Nights.

  43. Ingersoll Gender Center 🌈 One of the oldest organizations by and for transgender and gender-nonconforming people. They host a weekly Support Group and provide specialized peer support and financial assistance for gender-affirming care.

  44. Inside 🌍🌈 A Queer Black-owned and BIPOC-run healing arts studio and gallery. Recurring activities include Open Mic Nights, Community Yoga, and wellness events.

  45. Japanese Cultural & Community Center of Washington (JCCCW) 🌏 Offers cultural events and activities throughout the year and manages the Northwest Nikkei Museum.

  46. Julia’s on Broadway 🌈 A staple of Capitol Hill and the LGBTQ+ community, and famous for its long-running Le Faux Drag Show, which has introduced generations to the local drag scene over dinner and brunch.

  47. The Kink Center 🌈 A queer-owned third space and educational venue that prioritizes safety and community building for alternative lifestyles. They host socials called "munches", and themed play parties.

  48. Kremwerk 🌈 A queer-owned premier nightclub for underground electronic music, innovative drag programming — a vibrant LGBTQ+ cultural hub.

  49. Kubota Gardens 🌏 Okay, I couldn’t help but sneak this one into the list. One of my favorite botanical gardens in the whole city! Embrace the serenity of these beautiful Japanese gardens in any season, their walking tours fill up quickly.

  50. Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center 🌍 A historic city-owned venue that celebrates Black culture through theater, film, and dance. Home of the Seattle Black Film Festival and a primary site for citywide Juneteenth celebrations.

  51. Latino Community Fund of Washington 🌎 Cultivates leadership and philanthropy within the Latino community across the state. They host advocacy workshops, civic engagement forums, and an annual gala to support Latinx-led non-profits.

  52. Lavender Rights Project 🌍🌈 A Black trans-led organization providing legal and social services for Black gender-diverse people. They host community events like the Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network meetups and various town halls.

  53. Lezztalkaboutit 🌈 A grassroots initiative to create safe, low-cost community spaces for the queer and lesbian community. Recurring events include a Queer Run Club, local movie nights, and day parties.

  54. Life on Mars 🌈 — This queer-friendly bar with non-alcoholic drinks, vegan bites, coffee, records, and a cozy atmosphere.

  55. Lumber Yard Bar 🌈 This gay bar in White Center is a community anchor hosting regular drag brunches, karaoke nights, and fundraisers for local LGBTQ+ organizations.

  56. Marination 🌈 Queer- and Asian-owned restaurant group that occasionally hosts pop-ups and community events. Delicious fusion tacos and a great waterfront location near Alki Beach.

  57. Metier Brewing 🌈 One of the few Black-owned breweries in the country! Their taprooms host regular community events, live music, and social justice forums.

  58. Mother Nation 🌎 A Native-led non-profit that provides cultural healing and mentorship for Indigenous women and families. Events include the Healing Together gathering for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR).

  59. Native Action Network 🌎 — A nonprofit organized to promote Native women’s full representation, participation, and leadership in local, state, tribal, and national affairs.

  60. Neighbors Nightclub 🌈 A historic gay-owned Capitol Hill institution that has been a cornerstone of queer nightlife for decades. Famous for its massive dance floor and regular themed nights.

  61. Niles Edge Healing Arts 🌍 A Black-owned wellness practice that decolonizes health and promotes holistic flourishing for the Black Diaspora. They frequently host and support wellness events like Black Maternal Health Week screenings and resource fairs.

  62. No Judgement Fitness 🌈 This queer woman-owned gym in White Center provides a safe environment and specialized personal training for queer, trans, and non-binary bodies. They offer a class called Lesbian Arms!

  63. Northwest African American Museum 🌍
    Preserves and celebrates the history and arts of Black people in the Pacific Northwest. They host regular community events and annual Juneteenth celebrations.

  64. Northwest Immigrant Rights Project 🌎 Provides direct legal services and advocacy for immigrants across Washington state regardless of their ability to pay. They host workshops and legal clinics to support and protect immigrant families.

  65. Noor 🌏 A confidential meeting space for LGBTQ+ Muslim community.

  66. Off the Rez Cafe 🌎 Seattle’s first native-owned food truck, now a cafe located inside the Burke Museum.

  67. Pier 62 Events @ Waterfront Park — 
    A central waterfront space that hosts free public programming managed by Friends of Waterfront Seattle. Highlights include the seasonal Souk at the Waterfront marketplace and summertime live music and fitness classes.

  68. Pan Eros Foundation — A non-profit dedicated to sex-positive education and the arts, host of the annual Seattle Erotic Art Festival. They also operate Gallery Erato, offering regular workshops and social events focused on intimacy and alternative lifestyles.

  69. Pipsqueak Community Space — An all-ages, sober event space in the Central District that provides a low-cost home for grassroots organizing. Events include Trans Art Jams and QTBIPOC Crafts meetups, fostering a safe environment for creative community building.

  78. Reclaim Clay Collective 🌍🌈 QTPOC-owned and -operated ceramics studio in the ID that focuses on making art accessible and community-driven for marginalized artists. They offer unique classes like Botanical Prints on Risograph and Stuffed Animal Taxidermy.

  79. Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA) 🌎
    A multi-ethnic organization that provides comprehensive services to refugee and immigrant women and their families. They host regular citizenship classes, youth after-school programs, and community wellness gatherings.

  80. Rough & Tumble Pub — This women-owned sports bar hosts game-day watch parties for the Seattle Storm and OL Reign, creating a dedicated community space for female sports fans.

  81. Sacred Land Collective 🌎 Located in Auburn, this Indigenous-led project focuses on land sovereignty and traditional ecological knowledge. They host community work parties and seasonal harvest celebrations centered on Indigenous land stewardship.

  83. Seattle Asian American Film Festival (SAAFF) 🌏 An annual festival that showcases the best in Asian American cinema, emphasizing voices from the Pacific Northwest. They host filmmaker panels and community screenings that highlight the diversity of the Asian diaspora.

  84. Seattle Asian Art Museum 🌏 A 13-gallery collection of Asian art in a historic building in Volunteer Park, offering monthly lectures, tea ceremonies, and Free First Thursdays.

  85. Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center 🌈 Formerly known as Gay City, this center provides a safe space and community resources, including HIV testing and a resource library. They host regular youth queer-straight alliance meetings and various wellness-focused community groups.

  91. Somos Seattle 🌎🌈 Builds community for LGBTQ+ Latinx individuals through social events and advocacy. They host annual celebrations and recurring "Cafecito" social hours.

  92. Tasveer 🌏🌈 A Seattle-based organization that supports the PNW Queer Desi Community.

  93. Theater Off Jackson — A community-led performance space in the International District. The recurring home for the Suga Shaq (all-BIPOC burlesque) and many other inclusive community productions.

  94. Three Dollar Bill Cinema 🌈 A 30-year old institution committed to elevating the spectrum of queer stories to help create an equitable world. Main annual programs include the Seattle Queer Film Festival and TRANSlations: Seattle Trans Film Festival.

  95. Trans Women of Color Solidarity Network (TWOCSN) 🌎🌈 A grassroots collective supporting Black, Indigenous, and other femmes of color. Offers healthcare activism, trans resources, and reparations advocacy. They organize the annual Taking Back Pride event to center QTBIPOC joy during Pride.

  96. Unicorn 🌈 A gay-owned circus-themed bar on Capitol Hill. They host a variety of entertainment, including drag brunches and arcade-themed social nights.

  97. Vermillion Art Gallery & Bar — A woman-owned bar and art gallery in Capitol Hill. They regularly host queer-friendly figure drawing nights and monthly rotating art exhibits.

  98. Vibe Bingo 🌍 A Black-owned touring event series that reimagines bingo through the lens of hip-hop and R&B culture. They host high-energy Bingo & Party nights at various venues, often supporting local BIPOC-owned businesses.

  99. Wa Na Wari 🌍 Located in a historic Black-owned home in the Central District, this organization creates a space for Black art and belonging. They host the Black Spatial Histories Institute, regular community art exhibitions, and oral history projects.

  100. We Rise Wine Bar 🌍 A Black-owned wine bar and social space that highlights wines from BIPOC and women-led producers. They host regular wine education nights and community mixers that center Black excellence and joy.

  101. Wildrose Bar 🌈 One of the oldest lesbian-owned bars in the country and a historic landmark on Capitol Hill. Weekly karaoke and legendary Pride block parties.

  102. Wing Luke Museum 🌏 The only museum in the country to focus on the Pan-Asian Pacific American experience. They offer neighborhood walking tours of the International District and host diverse community-curated art exhibitions.

  103. The Void 🌈 A queer-owned, late-night café and bar in West Seattle, offering espresso, specialty Japanese desserts, video games, and pinball in a cozy atmosphere.
